Awqaf Abu Dhabi Launches AED 50 Million Community Centre To Support Chronic Disease Patients

The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority, known as Awqaf Abu Dhabi, has initiated the Awqaf Abu Dhabi – Community Centre. This is the first project under their Life Endowment campaign, which aims to assist patients with chronic diseases. The campaign is a collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and operates under the slogan "With You For Life."

The AED50 million community centre will offer a mix of shopping, entertainment, and cultural experiences. It aims to become a lively hub for community interaction. By integrating modern spaces with Emirati culture, it will cater to both residents and visitors. The centre is expected to enhance Abu Dhabi City's economic and tourist appeal while promoting social engagement.

Abdulhamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, stated that the Life Endowment campaign provides a sustainable model for supporting those with chronic illnesses who cannot afford treatment. He emphasised the commitment to achieving the campaign's goals by investing in high-quality projects that yield strong returns for community benefit.

The campaign's primary goal is to improve healthcare service sustainability and ensure treatment funding for vulnerable patients. It also aims to bolster the healthcare system's ability to tackle future challenges by establishing an endowment fund. This fund will cover treatment costs, invest in better healthcare services, provide medications, and offer mental health support.

Saeed highlighted that the community centre will not only generate returns for the endowment fund but also deliver significant benefits by raising awareness about endowments' importance. It encourages community involvement while promoting economic development in surrounding areas.

Promoting Social Solidarity

The Life Endowment campaign strengthens social solidarity and collective action to enhance community sectors like healthcare. Saeed noted that it underscores Awqaf Abu Dhabi's leadership in managing endowment funds for maximum social impact and sustaining resources for charitable work.
