AVPN Global Conference: A Keystone For Asia's Development And Partnerships

In a significant move to bolster comprehensive development across Asia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, underscored the critical role of the AVPN Global Conference held in Abu Dhabi. Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the conference's first day, Uno highlighted the event as a crucial platform for fostering partnerships and rallying efforts towards development goals.

Since its inception in Singapore, where it welcomed around 200 attendees, Uno has been an active participant in the conference. This year, Abu Dhabi has significantly expanded the conference's scale, attracting over 1,500 investors, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, policymakers, and government leaders. This growth not only reflects the conference's increasing importance but also Abu Dhabi's commitment to enhancing its impact.

AVPN Conference Boosts Asia Development

With approximately 100,000 Indonesian residents in the UAE, Uno expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE. This relationship was further solidified with the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in July 2022. The ambitious agreement aims to elevate bilateral trade significantly.

The CEPA between Indonesia and the UAE is a landmark deal with high expectations to boost annual trade from $3 billion in 2021 to over $10 billion within five years. This agreement focuses on reducing or eliminating tariffs on a wide range of goods and services, thereby opening new avenues for businesses in both countries to explore and expand.

This strategic partnership underlines both nations' commitment to enhancing economic ties and fostering growth opportunities. By facilitating easier access to markets and reducing trade barriers, the CEPA is set to play a pivotal role in driving economic prosperity for Indonesia and the UAE alike.

The collaboration between Indonesia and the UAE, exemplified by their participation in events like the AVPN Global Conference and agreements such as the CEPA, highlights a shared vision for progress and development. It underscores an era of increased connectivity and mutual benefits that promise to bring about significant advancements in trade and economic relations between Asia and the Middle East.
