ASMO Expands Operations In Saudi Arabia With New Headquarters And Strategic Partnerships To Enhance Supply Chain Services

Earlier this year, ASMO (Advanced Supply Management Operations), a joint venture between DHL and Aramco through the Saudi Aramco Development Company, embarked on a mission to serve as the premier procurement and supply chain services hub in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Targeting the intricate needs of the energy, chemical, and industrial sectors, ASMO aims to lead in providing comprehensive end-to-end supply chain and procurement solutions. To further this goal, the company has recently entered into strategic partnerships and signed a series of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with notable industry leaders and multinational technology providers, marking significant strides towards enhancing the supply chain market in the region.

In a significant move to fortify its digital infrastructure, ASMO has inked agreements totaling over SAR 300 million (exceeding $81 million) with technology giants Aramco Digital, SAP, and Oracle. These partnerships are set to propel ASMO's digital transformation, focusing on operational excellence across the supply chain and procurement spectrum within Saudi Arabia. The collaboration with these leading technology providers will introduce advanced ERP systems, procurement control towers, and B2B eMarketplace to ASMO's operations. Consequently, these integrations are expected to bolster decision-making, asset utilization, and operational efficiency, thus streamlining planning, automating finance and HR processes, and elevating productivity and the employee experience at ASMO. The agreements were formalized at ASMO's newly inaugurated headquarters in the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce Tower, Dammam.

Establishing Strategic Partnerships and MoUs

To extend its reach and capabilities, ASMO has successfully signed 16 MoUs with key players across various sectors. These partnerships are intended to explore avenues for value creation, propelling efficiencies across the supply chain. Among the sectors targeted are chemical and refining, where agreements have been made with industry leaders such as Luberef, Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co (Petro Rabigh), and several others including Saudi Aramco Jubail Refinery Company (SASREF) and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (YASREF). The energy sector saw collaborations with Baker Hughes and Schlumberger Middle East S.A. (SLB), among others. Additionally, global manufacturing entities like ArcelorMittal and Vallourec, alongside aviation and healthcare organizations such as Aloula Aviation and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH), have joined forces with ASMO through MoUs, broadening the scope of ASMO’s potential impact.

ASMO Chairman, Salem Al Huraish, expressed pride in these strategic partnerships, emphasizing their alignment with Vision 2030 objectives and their potential to bolster the Kingdom's economy by fostering a more resilient and sustainable supply chain ecosystem. “Today, I am proud to announce our strategic partnerships that are in line with Vision 2030 objectives and contribute to the Kingdom's economic growth by creating a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chain ecosystem. We aim to enable our customers to focus on their core business activities while benefiting from improved service levels, reduced carbon emissions, and enhanced operational efficiency, helping them to pursue and attain new growth opportunities,” Al Huraish stated. He highlighted the significance of these developments in marking a new chapter in ASMO's journey, with the establishment of their new headquarters serving as a testament to their ambition and commitment.

Driving Innovation and Efficiency

The new eight-floor, LEED-certified headquarters of ASMO is designed to accommodate over 1,200 employees, underlining the company's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and employee well-being. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and fostering strategic partnerships, ASMO is poised to deliver significant value to its partners and customers, driving innovation and efficiency in supply chain and procurement operations. These efforts underscore ASMO's dedication to shaping the future of the procurement and supply chain landscape in the energy, chemical, and industrial sectors, aligning closely with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
