Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship Opens In Al Hamriyah With UAE Hosting Return

The Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship has opened at Al Hamriyah International Sailing Center, hosted by Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club. The event runs from 25th December 2025 until 30th December 2025. It is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. The competition returns to the UAE after a six-year break.

Officials view the Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship as an important platform for regional sailing. The tournament brings together national youth teams with strong technical skills and international experience. This environment is expected to help UAE national team sailors improve race readiness. It should also sharpen competitive performance against leading Asian counterparts.

Asian Youth Modern Sailing Opens in Al Hamriyah

The Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship is organised by Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, in cooperation with national sports bodies. The opening ceremony gathered Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Modern Rowing Federation. Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of Al Hamriyah Club’s Board, also attended. Other attendees included Mubarak Al Shamsi, Mohammed Al Obeidli, board members, partners and team delegations.

During the Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship, Salem Al Khayyal, Chairman of the Organising Committee, welcomed all participating squads. Al Khayyal noted that staging this continental event reflects the standing of the UAE. Al Khayyal highlighted the role of Sharjah and Al Hamriyah Club in managing major continental and international championships. The event supports the emirate’s profile in organised marine sports.

The Asian Youth Modern Sailing Championship also showcases coordination between several UAE entities and private sponsors. Al Khayyal thanked the UAE Sailing and Modern Rowing Federation, Sharjah Sports Council and Al Hamriyah Municipality for organisational support. Al Khayyal further acknowledged sponsorship from Ajmal Makan and Asas Steel. Organisers expressed hopes that all teams complete the championship successfully and safely.
