Arada Partners With UNEC To Build AED 2.18 Billion Madar Mall In Sharjah's Aljada

Arada has enlisted the expertise of Dubai-based United Engineering Construction Company (UNEC) for the construction Madar Mall, a central feature the Aljada megaproject in Sharjah. This significant retail and entertainment hub, valued at AED2.18 billion, marks a pivotal phase in the development, with construction set to start immediately and a completion target set for December 2028.

Madar Mall, envisioned by Zaha Hadid Architects, is designed to be the crown jewel of Madar, the family entertainment district within Aljada. This sprawling complex, covering a built-up area of 3.9 million square feet, draws its inspiration from the natural beauty of water droplets hitting the earth, a concept that is mirrored in its elliptical structures and verdant surroundings.

The mall features over 400 retail outlets, 80 dining options, and a host of entertainment facilities across its 1.1 million square feet of gross leasable area. Highlights include an 11-screen cinema, an ice rink, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Additionally, a central observation tower offers dining with a view, while a public square showcases dancing fountains, enriching the visitor experience with diverse attractions.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Madar Mall is a transformational new destination for Sharjah and the wider UAE. He emphasized the mall's role not just as a shopping and dining venue, but as a vibrant hub for culture, recreation, and social connectivity. Alkhoshaibi also highlighted the significance of partnering with UNEC, saying, "This is the largest single contract we have ever awarded, and we are pleased to partner with UNEC, a contractor with a strong record of delivering high-quality projects at scale, to bring this vision to life."

Madar Mall is expected to attract around 20 million visitors annually upon completion, significantly contributing to Aljada's growth as the UAE's fastest-growing mixed-use community. This influx of visitors is anticipated to enhance Sharjah's reputation as a vibrant center for culture, commerce, and family life.

The mall complements existing attractions in Madar, including the region's largest skate park, a food district, a trampoline park, adventure playgrounds, and a gym, further enriching the community's offerings. As the anchor attraction and concluding phase of Madar, the mall is set to become a landmark destination in Sharjah.

Positioned strategically with easy access to major roads, Sharjah International Airport, and the future Etihad Rail station, Aljada is poised to reshape the urban landscape of Sharjah, providing an integrated and dynamic community for its growing population.
