Arada Awards AED 2.7bn Contracts To Build Masaar 2, Sharjah’s Second Woodland Megaproject

Arada has awarded AED2.7 billion in contracts to deliver Masaar 2, a forested residential megaproject in the Rowdat district of Sharjah. The package covers construction of 1,997 homes across four phases, integrated infrastructure and public spaces, and full design and supervision by specialist consultants.

The 10.5 million square foot community will feature nature-inspired architecture, a swimmable forest lagoon and wellness-focused amenities, anchored by a green spine planted with 40,000 trees. Masaar 2 launched in February this year and sold out within hours, generating AED5.6 billion in transactions in Sharjah’s fast-growing property market.

Intermass and Pivot Engineering & General Contracting have been appointed as main contractors, with first handovers scheduled for 2027 and full completion expected by June 2028. Darwish Engineering Emirates will deliver the entire infrastructure works, following completion of enabling works across the site. In total, three construction firms and four consultancies are involved.

Dubai-based Dewan Architects + Engineers has concluded design consultancy for all four phases. CRTKL developed the master plan concept and design, while Parsons Overseas Limited handled infrastructure design and supervision. DAR will provide full supervision consultancy services through to the scheduled completion of all four phases in summer 2028.

Masaar 2 is positioned as a premium, nature-focused residential destination, complementing Arada’s wider Masaar portfolio. In September, Arada launched Masaar 3, the third and largest forested master plan in the series, which will comprise 4,000 homes delivered across eight phases in Sharjah.

The original Masaar master plan includes 3,000 homes spread across a 19 million square foot forested landscape. Half of this community has already been handed over, along with a range of facilities and amenities, with full completion scheduled by the end of 2026, according to Arada.
