Arab Youth Council Rolls Out New Platform For Sustainability Education
A new educational platform, "Open-source Hub: Sustainability as a Second Language," has been launched in the UAE. This initiative, under the Arab Youth Council for Climate Change (AYCCC), aims to provide higher education professors in the Arab world with resources to integrate Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) into their curricula.
The AYCCC developed this platform in collaboration with HSBC and Posterity Institute. Dr. Yasar Jarrar, Managing Director of Posterity Institute, highlighted the importance of this project, stating it will equip the next generation with essential knowledge and skills to tackle climate change challenges in the Arab world and beyond.

The Open-source Hub offers materials in both Arabic and English. It includes eight comprehensive modules that cover all 17 SDGs and various sustainability topics. These modules encompass an introduction to sustainability, global responses to challenges, the private sector's role, energy, circular economies, food and water security, net-positive strategies, and leveraging technology for good.
Development and Launch
The platform has been in development for two years, with contributions from various partners. Its soft launch took place at the 2024 World Future Energy Summit at ADNEC. This event marked a significant step in making curated educational resources on sustainability accessible to educators across the Arab world.
Future Prospects
The Open-source Hub is expected to play a crucial role in fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability among Arab youth. By providing structured and comprehensive educational materials, it aims to support educators in preparing students to address pressing environmental challenges effectively.
