Arab Parliament Condemns Knesset's Approval Of Israeli Sovereignty Over West Bank As Legislative Aggression

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has expressed strong disapproval of the Israeli Knesset's decision to extend "Israeli sovereignty" over the West Bank. He views this move as a severe legislative assault on Palestinian rights and a significant threat to any potential two-state solution. Al Yamahi highlighted that this action blatantly violates international law and United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, and 2334.

In his statement, Al Yamahi emphasised that such legislation poses a direct threat to global peace and security. He accused the occupation state of persisting in its colonial ambitions and reinforcing an apartheid system under a misleading legal guise. This defiance challenges the UN Charter's principles and the international framework that respects international law and peoples' right to self-determination.

Arab Parliament Condemns Israeli Sovereignty Move

Al Yamahi urged the Inter-Parliamentary Union to take decisive action against the Israeli Knesset for breaching fundamental principles of international parliamentary conduct. He called for the immediate suspension of the Knesset's membership in the union, arguing it acts as a legislative body that legitimises occupation and settlement activities, thereby undermining democratic foundations globally.

He also appealed to parliaments worldwide not to acknowledge any legislative outcomes from the Knesset affecting the legal status of occupied Palestinian territories. Al Yamahi advocated for imposing parliamentary sanctions on members who support annexation and settlement projects, labelling them as direct accomplices in violating international law and perpetuating occupation and apartheid systems.

The Arab Parliament remains steadfast in supporting Palestinian national rights, with a primary focus on establishing an independent sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital. Al Yamahi stressed the importance of unifying international parliamentary positions to stop this legislative recklessness by the Israeli Knesset. He urged exposing these disgraceful practices in all international forums.

"Passing such racist legislation in the Knesset of the occupation represents a direct threat to international peace and security," stated Al Yamahi. "It reflects the occupation state's insistence on completing its colonial schemes and entrenching the apartheid system under a false legal cover."

Al Yamahi's call for action highlights a broader concern about maintaining global peace and respecting international laws. His statements underscore an urgent need for cohesive efforts among nations to address these legislative actions that threaten stability in the region.
