Dubai Press Club Announces Inaugural Arab Media Summit

The Arab Media Summit, a new initiative launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, aims to provide a unified platform for key media events organized by the Dubai Press Club (DPC). The summit, announced by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the DPC, seeks to foster knowledge exchange and dialogue within the media industry.

As part of the Arab Media Summit, the 22nd Arab Media Forum, scheduled for May 28-29, and the second Arab Youth Media Forum, set to take place on May 27, will be organized. Additionally, the 23rd Arab Media Award and the fourth Arab Social Media Influencers Award will be incorporated into the Arab Media Summit, held during the upcoming Arab Media Forum.

Dubai Hosts First Arab Media Summit

According to Al Marri, the Arab Media Summit will provide a high-profile platform for the exchange of ideas, insights, expertise, and experiences that can contribute to the realization of the aspirations of the people in the region. The summit aims to gather media professionals to discuss the transformations and challenges within the sector, enabling Arab media to fulfill its responsibilities as a key partner in sustainable development.

This year's Arab Media Forum will see the participation of prominent politicians, media industry leaders, editors in chief, distinguished writers, thinkers, influencers, and content creators from the UAE, the Arab world, and the region. The forum will feature a series of discussions analyzing the political, economic, social, technological, and cultural developments driving the media's transformation, as well as the sector's role in the region's changes.

The second Arab Youth Media Forum, a part of the Arab Media Summit, will be dedicated to empowering the next generation of media professionals and influencers in the region. Notable speakers, including Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi, will participate in a main session titled 'Aspirations of the Youth'.

The main sessions at the 22nd Arab Media Forum will cover various topics. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister of Yemen, will share his vision for building lasting peace in Yemen and the role of the media in promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence in the 'Future of Yemen' session. Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, will speak at the session 'Charting the GCC's Future' on the integration of media in the GCC. Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, will engage in a one-on-one conversation with Faisal bin Huraiz of Sky News Arabia, discussing current regional challenges and their impact on the Gulf and Arab region. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, will speak at the 'Tech Updates in Media' session, exploring the use of technology to advance media excellence. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture of Kuwait, will discuss media development in Kuwait in light of the Ministry's digital transformation strategy.

The Arab Media Forum will also feature global industry leaders, including Pavel Durov, Founder of Telegram and VKontakte, who will participate in discussions. The forum will address transformations impacting the region's media, with sessions like 'Palestine Through the Lens of Arab Media' focusing on media coverage of the Palestinian cause. The forum will also highlight the success stories of Arab women in senior positions in global media organizations.

The Arab Media Forum will recognize excellence in the regional broadcast, digital, and print media during the prestigious Arab Media Award. Additionally, the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit Award ceremony will honor the contributions of digital influencers.

The Arab Youth Media Forum will offer 10 masterclasses in collaboration with leading global digital platforms, providing young media professionals with the opportunity to enhance their skills. These masterclasses, delivered by leading global media companies, will equip emerging professionals with the expertise and knowledge needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Furthermore, the 22nd Arab Media Forum will celebrate renowned Arab authors and their literary works, with book signing sessions allowing authors to engage with attendees and showcase their contributions to the Arab creative and literary world.The Arab Media Summit, through the Arab Media Forum and other associated events, aims to create an inclusive and informative platform for media professionals, fostering dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the celebration of excellence in the industry.
