Sheikh Mohammed Attends 33rd Arab League Summit Focused On Regional Unity
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, along with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attended the opening session of the 33rd Arab League Summit in Manama, Bahrain. Leaders and representatives from 22 member states of the Arab League are participating in the event.
Upon his arrival at Al Sakhir Palace, the main venue of the summit, Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. King Hamad praised Sheikh Mohammed for his dedication to advancing Arab collaboration and developing solutions to regional challenges, aiming for a new era of development and prosperity.
Sheikh Mohammed congratulated King Hamad on the organisation of the 33rd Arab League Summit and expressed his wishes for Bahrain's continued growth under King Hamad's leadership. With the Palestinian issue taking centre stage amid an escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE's steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause.
He affirmed the UAE's unwavering support for Palestinian rights in accordance with international laws and resolutions. Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the UAE's leading role in global efforts to deliver relief aid to Gaza. He praised the recent diplomatic milestone of the United Nations General Assembly voting in favour of granting Palestine full UN membership.
Leaders from across the Arab world have gathered at the summit to deliberate on ways to initiate a new phase of collective action aimed at strengthening cooperation among member states. They discussed various strategies to support Arab aspirations, focusing on unlocking a new era of comprehensive sustainable development that promotes stability and progress throughout the region.
The summit was also attended by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN). At the opening session, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, delivered a keynote address.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman noted that the 32nd Arab League Summit held in 2023 focused on vital Arab issues and strengthened joint Arab action. The summit formulated common positions on regional and international matters, with a primary focus on the Palestinian cause. He emphasised Saudi Arabia's commitment to regional security, peace, and prosperity through peaceful conflict resolution.
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain stated that this summit is taking place at a critical time in Arab history. He called for organising an international conference for peace in the Middle East and stressed establishing a final and just peace in the region. King Hamad highlighted the importance of strengthening joint Arab action due to continuing risks to Arab national security.

The summit also featured keynotes by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, António Guterres, Dr Dlamini Zuma (Chairperson of the African Union Commission), and Hissein Brahim Taha (Secretary General of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation). These were followed by statements from various leaders participating in the summit.
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid arrived in Bahrain accompanied by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. They were received by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, along with several senior officials.
