Arab League Strongly Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Lebanon And Calls For Immediate Cessation
The Arab League's permanent representatives have denounced Israel's actions against Lebanon. They demand an immediate halt, viewing any invasion as a threat to Arab security. This decision was made during an extraordinary session chaired by Yemen, titled "Solidarity with Lebanon," addressing the severe consequences of the aggression.
The Council expressed full support for Lebanon amidst the aggression, which has resulted in thousands of civilian casualties, including children and medics. The violence has also displaced over a million people due to widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure, constituting war crimes and violations of international law.

Arab countries and international organisations are urged to provide financial and material aid to Lebanon. The Council acknowledged those already assisting. The ongoing conflict places immense pressure on Lebanon's health and social sectors, necessitating urgent support.
The Council held Israel accountable for its actions and backed efforts to prosecute it internationally. It called for the UN Security Council to stop Israel's violations of Lebanese sovereignty by land, sea, and air. The Council reaffirmed Lebanon's right to resist aggression through legitimate means.
Emphasising Resolution 1701, the Council urged cooperation between the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon. They stressed the need for a ceasefire as a step towards enforcing international resolutions. The statement from September 25th by global powers calling for an immediate ceasefire was welcomed.
The Arab League supports Lebanon’s efforts to extend sovereignty over its entire territory. Strengthening constitutional institutions is vital for national unity and stability. Electing a president and forming a government capable of tackling political, economic, and social challenges is essential.
Continuous Monitoring
The Arab League decided to keep its sessions ongoing to monitor developments closely. A ministerial meeting will be convened if necessary. The Secretary-General is tasked with ensuring resolution implementation and coordinating with Arab states for humanitarian aid provision.
Arab League missions are instructed to work with Arab ambassadors’ councils globally to communicate this resolution effectively. This coordination aims to explain the resolution's content clearly at international forums.
