Arab League Condemns Israel For Undermining UN And Humanitarian Organisations In Gaza Amid Ongoing Violence
The Council of the Arab League (AL) has criticised Israel for obstructing the operations of the United Nations and humanitarian organisations in Gaza. This includes attacks on UNRWA's headquarters. The statement was made during an extraordinary session focused on halting Israeli aggression against Palestinians, particularly in northern Gaza.
The Council highlighted that Israeli actions constitute crimes against humanity, violating international laws and principles. These acts disregard resolutions from both the UN Security Council and General Assembly, as well as advisory opinions from the International Court of Justice.

The AL Council expressed disappointment over the global community's failure to stop Israel's aggressive actions, now in their second year. This inaction is seen as a significant moral failing for humanity and international order. The statement also criticised the United Nations for not achieving its charter's goals of maintaining peace and security.
Future generations will likely question why international resolutions demanding a ceasefire and an end to Israeli aggression were not enforced. The Council noted that mechanisms within the UN Charter, especially those in Chapter Seven, have not been effectively used to address these issues.
The Council condemned the United States for providing extensive military aid to Israel, including bombs and ammunition. This support has led to significant destruction in Palestinian residential areas and infrastructure, causing numerous civilian casualties, mostly women and children.
Additionally, the AL Council denounced ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon. This has resulted in many civilian casualties and displaced over 1.3 million Lebanese people. The Council warned that continued aggression threatens regional security.
Support for Lebanon and Syria
The Council also condemned recent Israeli attacks on UNIFIL forces in Lebanon. It stressed the importance of supporting Lebanon's efforts with international partners to pressure Israel into ceasing fire and fully implementing Resolution 1701.
Furthermore, repeated Israeli attacks on Syria were condemned by the AL Council. These attacks have targeted civilians and residential areas. The Council affirmed its support for Syria's right to defend its land and people.
Legal Actions Against Israel
The AL urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to expedite its ruling on a genocide lawsuit against Israel. They emphasised that it is crucial for the court to act swiftly to halt these crimes. Additionally, they called on the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister and Defence Minister.
The Arab League's statement underscores a call for accountability regarding ongoing conflicts involving Israel. It highlights a need for international intervention to uphold justice and peace in affected regions.
