RTA Launches Arab Document Day Exhibition To Celebrate Heritage And Cultural Awareness
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will inaugurate the Arab Document Day Exhibition on 17th October at its headquarters. This event will see participation from various government and private organisations, including the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, Dubai Municipality's Architectural Heritage and Antiquities Department, and Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.
Fatima Al Mandoos, Director of Administrative Services at RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, explained the exhibition's purpose. "The exhibition is organised as part of RTA’s commitment to marking this annual occasion to raise awareness of the importance of documents and archives in safeguarding identity, preserving historical and intellectual memory, and strengthening values of national belonging and pride in Arab heritage. It also reflects Dubai’s dedication to supporting initiatives that preserve heritage and ensure the sustainability of knowledge. Arab Document Day is a yearly opportunity to showcase national efforts to preserve documents and manuscripts as a cultural and human treasure, and to highlight the importance of archives in protecting intangible heritage."

The exhibition will feature a variety of cultural activities designed to engage visitors. These include an Arabic calligraphy corner that highlights the art's beauty, a manuscript-binding workshop demonstrating preservation techniques, and a platform offering free historical books to encourage knowledge sharing.
Attendees will also receive free membership to the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center library. This membership allows access to a wealth of heritage and scientific resources for employees. The programme aims to promote cultural exchange by providing these valuable resources.
A competition for the most beautiful Arabic calligraphy is also part of the event. This contest seeks to inspire creativity among participants while encouraging artistic expression. Additionally, raffles with prizes will be held for employees who actively participate in the exhibition.
The exhibition underscores Dubai's commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage through various engaging activities. By highlighting the significance of archives in protecting intangible heritage, it fosters a sense of national pride among participants.
