AQU And Dubai Media Academy Sign MoU To Strengthen Academic And Media Cooperation

Al Qasimia University (AQU) and Dubai Media Academy have formalised a partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to advance education, training, media development, and joint academic research. The MoU was signed by Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of AQU, and Mona Bousamra, Director of Dubai Media Academy, with several academic staff present.

The agreement focuses on implementing joint academic and training programmes. It also includes organising workshops and seminars in media and communication. The exchange of expertise and faculty is another key aspect. Research collaborations are intended to prepare skilled media professionals for both local and global markets.

AQU Partners with Dubai Media Academy

Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf highlighted that the agreement aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. He is the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of Al Qasimia University. The vision supports quality education and strengthens national partnerships between academic institutions and media organisations.

Dr Al Khalaf stated that this partnership reinforces the university's role in community service. It empowers students with modern media skills. He added that the collaboration will create new opportunities for applied work in media and communication, enhancing integration between university education and professional practice.

Mona Bousamra described the MoU as a strategic step to bridge academic education with practical training amid rapid changes in the media industry. She mentioned that this partnership aids students in acquiring future-oriented skills. It reflects the Academy’s vision to nurture an innovative generation capable of using modern technology to produce impactful content showcasing the UAE’s cultural message.

On the sidelines of the signing event, Mona Bousamra delivered a lecture titled "Modern Trends in Media" to students at the College of Communication. The session was attended by Professor Dr Hisham Abbas, Dean of the College of Communication, along with faculty members, moderated by Dr Wadad Haroun.

Future Media Landscape

The lecture addressed significant transformations in today's media landscape. It focused on digital technologies' role in developing media environments and content creation. Emphasising artificial intelligence skills alongside critical and creative thinking was highlighted as essential for contemporary media needs.

Bousamra also provided an analytical outlook on media's future during digital transformation times. She discussed Dubai Media Academy's role in preparing future media professionals, empowering national talent, recent developments in UAE's media job market, opportunities from digital advancements, Emirati women's leadership roles in media excellence, and preparing graduates with advanced communication skills.

This collaboration between AQU and Dubai Media Academy marks a significant step towards integrating academic knowledge with practical skills in media fields. By focusing on modern trends and future needs, it aims to equip students with essential tools for success in evolving global markets.
