The fulfilment centre is strategically positioned in the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), showcasing a commitment to technological innovation and operational excellence.

The opening ceremony was graced by prominent figures including Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and other key officials from ADIO, Abu Dhabi Customs, and KEZAD Group, marking a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi's digital transformation journey.

"The launch of Amazon's first fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership. Through ADIO's collaboration with Amazon, we are not only creating opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises, we are also strengthening the advanced logistics and digital commerce ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.

"This is aligned with our initiatives to enable businesses in priority sectors such as retail and wholesale trade, SMEs, and ICT to grow, thrive, and expand," stated Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO.

This facility is pivotal in Abu Dhabi's quest for digital transformation and enhancing its position as a hub for technological innovation. Utilising Amazon's cutting-edge automation technology, the centre is able to offer same-day delivery for a wide array of products across the UAE, a leap forward made possible by the efficient customs clearance processes and trade facilitation by Abu Dhabi Customs.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, emphasized the commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with the private sector, aiming to make Abu Dhabi a key player in smart trade on both regional and international stages.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye, stated, "This new fulfilment centre represents a step forward in our long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and the UAE. By combining technology with our customer-obsessed approach, we are expanding our operational footprint in Abu Dhabi while setting new standards for online retail.

"Through our partnership with ADIO, we are leveraging Amazon's expertise and technology capabilities to support the UAE's digital economy, while empowering local businesses with the tools and infrastructure they need to succeed online and support customers.

"We also deeply value our strategic partnerships with Abu Dhabi Customs and KEZAD, their support is essential to building a world-class logistics network and making Abu Dhabi an attractive destination for investment and trade."

Amazon's Abu Dhabi fulfilment centre also hosts an Innovation Lab, aligning with ADIO's mission to foster innovation and expedite economic transformation in Abu Dhabi. The lab, boasting a 93% success rate across over 500 tests, focuses on developing and refining innovative technologies to enhance operational efficiencies and customer service excellence. It plays a critical role in reducing process lead times by 59% and is equipped with advanced tools like 3D printers and package testing equipment.

The facility's design underscores Amazon's dedication to sustainability, featuring analytics-driven processes to minimise resource consumption. With the capability to store up to 8 million units, the centre is instrumental in enabling selling partners to broaden their online presence and connect with millions of customers.

Nearly half of the space is allocated to Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) sellers, facilitating storage, picking, packing, and shipping services across a diverse range of product categories, thus ensuring timely delivery of customer favorites around the clock.
