Amana Healthcare Honoured With Diamond Award For Excellence In Digital Safety Initiatives

Amana Healthcare, a member of the M42 group, has been honoured for the third year in a row by the Arab Hospitals Federation. The organisation received the Diamond Award for ‘Safety in Digital Transformation’, recognising its dedication to improving patient safety through digital innovations.

The award was presented to Dr. Jason Gray, CEO of Amana Healthcare, during the Arab Hospitals Federation's Silver Jubilee celebration. This event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.

Amana Healthcare Receives Diamond Award for Safety

Amana Healthcare has made significant strides in digital safety initiatives. These efforts have led to a reduction in antibiotic use targeting carbapenem-resistant organisms like E.coli, decreasing from 31% to 19% in 2024. Additionally, total antibiotic consumption fell from 130 days per 1,000 patient days to 90 days.

A key factor in this success is the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. This programme uses 'Power BI', a business intelligence dashboard that enables real-time monitoring of antimicrobial resistance. It empowers clinicians with data-driven insights for better decision-making.

Dr. Gray commented on the award: "At Amana Healthcare, we focus on delivering patient-centric care enabled by advanced technologies and innovative solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI), to provide precise and preventive care." He emphasised their commitment to using technology for patient safety and improved clinical outcomes.

The programme has resulted in a threefold increase in clinician consultations. The dashboard provides visual tools that help clinicians prescribe antimicrobials more accurately. This approach enhances patient safety by allowing timely interventions.

Recognition and Future Goals

Building on last year's Silver Star award, Amana Healthcare has shown leadership in digital safety initiatives. The organisation has improved safety metrics and advanced technology applications, data security, and patient privacy.

Dr. Gray added that following last year’s win, they were inspired to continue advancing digital innovations and strengthening the fight against antimicrobial resistance. He stated their commitment as a leading provider of specialised long-term care, rehabilitation, and home healthcare services.

This recognition underscores Amana Healthcare's dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology for prioritising patient safety and enhancing clinical outcomes. They aim to continuously improve their digital solutions for the benefit of patients across the region.
