Almarai And KACST Rebrand Almarai Prize For Scientific Creativity To Bolster Global Food Security

Today marked a significant stride in the realm of scientific innovation and sustainability as Dr. Munir M. Eldesouki, the President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Chairman of the Almarai Prize for Scientific Creativity, alongside Prince Naif bin Sultan bin Muhammad bin Saud Al-Kabeer, Chairman of the Board for Almarai Company and Vice Chairman of the Board for the Prize, unveiled the new strategy and identity for the Almarai Prize for Scientific Creativity.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between Almarai and KACST to bolster innovation in food security, particularly in arid regions. The strategy includes rebranding the local prize to "Almarai Prize for Scientific Innovation" and the creation of an international branch in partnership with the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority. This move is aimed at addressing critical issues such as water shortages and global food security challenges.

Almarai Prize s New Global Food Security Plan

The Almarai Prize for Scientific Creativity, which was first launched in 2001, holds the distinction of being the inaugural annual prize in the Kingdom to receive Royal approval and accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation.

Dr. Eldesouki highlighted the goal of the revamped strategy to enhance Saudi Arabia's standing in international food security rankings and to elevate awareness around global research and innovations. This aligns with the Kingdom's emphasis on research, development, and innovation as pillars of its national agenda.

Prince Saud Al-Kabeer underscored the prize's evolution, noting its focus on supporting innovators, researchers, and scientists. He emphasized the importance of encouraging future generations to recognize the critical role of research and innovation in food security. This, he stated, would inspire them to contribute towards research, development, and innovation within this vital sector.

He further elaborated on the prize's international scope, pointing out that it shines a spotlight on pioneering efforts in food systems in arid regions globally. He highlighted the potential benefits for partners in leveraging this platform to advance their businesses. Almarai's sponsorship of the prize reflects the company's commitment to prioritizing science and innovation, with the aim of advancing the food industry and promoting sustainable food security on a local, regional, and global scale.
