Alba And EGA Ink Deal To Enhance Bahrain's Aluminium Production Efficiency

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), recognized as one of the world's leading aluminium smelters, has recently entered into a significant Technology Services Agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the UAE's largest industrial entity outside the oil and gas sector. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for both companies, aiming to enhance the operational efficiency and sustainability of Alba's Reduction Line 6.

The formalization of this agreement was witnessed by Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, and EGA’s CEO, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, along with senior officials from both corporations. The agreement outlines a comprehensive support package from EGA to Alba, including both onsite and remote technical support services, operational consultation, process audits, technical training workshops, and direct operational assistance among other benefits.

Ali Al Baqali expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the success of Reduction Line 6 as a testament to Alba's skilled local workforce and the integration of EGA’s DX+ Ultra technology. He emphasized that this agreement would further empower their human resources through continuous exposure to EGA’s technological advancements, ultimately contributing to Alba’s sustainability goals.

On the other hand, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban reflected on the longstanding relationship between EGA and Alba, attributing it to the visionary leadership in both countries aiming to strengthen bilateral relations. He expressed pride in extending EGA's proprietary technology and expertise to Alba, reinforcing the success of Reduction Line 6 which incorporates EGA technology. Bin Kalban also noted EGA's commitment to innovation in aluminium production over the past three decades, aspiring to be the preferred technology partner in the industry.

Commissioned on 13 December 2018 and having achieved full operational capacity throughout 2019, Alba’s Reduction Line 6 has significantly increased the company's production capacity to over 1.6 million metric tonnes per annum. This expansion not only underscores Alba's growth ambitions but also its commitment to adopting sustainable and efficient production technologies.

The strategic alliance between Alba and EGA is set to foster technological exchange and operational excellence, driving forward the sustainable development agenda in the aluminium industry.
