Al Qasimia University Hosts International Conference On Content Creation Amid Media Integration Challenges

The Al Qasimia University international conference on content creation began recently under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The event, themed "Content Creation between Institutional Media and Social Media - Challenges of Integration and Competition," is a collaboration between the university and the Emirates News Agency (WAM). The two-day conference aims to explore the dynamics between traditional media and social platforms.

Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of AQU, along with Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Director of AQU, attended the opening session. Other notable attendees included Dr. Sami Al-Sharif, Secretary of the Association of Islamic Universities, and Jamal Nasser Al Suwaider from WAM. The event also saw participation from over 45 researchers representing 12 countries, highlighting its international scope.

Dr. Awad Al Khalaf emphasised that the conference aligns with Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's vision to foster academic communication and cooperation with media institutions. He stated, "This aims to discuss the challenges associated with creating meaningful content on social media platforms and to affirm the complementary relationship with official media institutions." This collaboration seeks to enhance content creation while maintaining a strong connection with traditional media.

Dr. Sami Al-Sharif highlighted the need for stronger ties between media and educational bodies. He pointed out how media plays a crucial role in shaping societal awareness and promoting values. He commended Sharjah's efforts in preserving Arab and Islamic identity through a balanced approach that respects family traditions.

In a speech delivered by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi on behalf of Jamal Nasser Al Suwaider, the significance of media adapting to digital advancements was underscored. The cooperation between WAM and Al Qasimia University in various joint initiatives was praised for its contribution to strengthening national media efforts across sectors in the UAE.

Ali Obaid Al Hameli, an Emirati writer and guest of honour at the conference, spoke about the importance of evaluating new content creators' work against legal and ethical standards. His remarks highlighted the need for responsible content creation in today's digital landscape.

Honouring Contributions

The conference also featured recognition ceremonies led by Jamal Salem Al Tarifi alongside Dr. Awad Al Khalaf and Dr. Hisham Mohamed Abbas Zakaria from AQU's College of Communication. They honoured guests and speakers who contributed significantly to discussions on scientific papers related to content creation.

The event included workshops focusing on artificial intelligence applications in newsmaking at WAM, alongside an exhibition by the Emirates Photographic Society (EPS). These sessions aimed at providing practical insights into modern content creation techniques.

The conference successfully brought together experts from various fields to discuss pressing issues in content creation today. By fostering dialogue between institutional media and social platforms, it aimed at finding solutions for integration challenges while respecting traditional values.
