AJP Dubai International Championship Begins Tomorrow With Participation Of Top Global Jiu-Jitsu Athletes
The Dubai International Championship, part of the AJP Tour series, is set to take place from April 4 to 6 at the Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) in partnership with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, this event will host over 1,000 athletes from 86 clubs and academies across 72 countries.
Competitions commence on Friday, April 4, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. They continue on Saturday and Sunday (April 5 and 6) from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Award ceremonies are scheduled throughout these three days. The UAE leads in participation numbers, followed by Colombia, Brazil, and France.

This championship provides a crucial platform for UAE-based clubs to compete against elite international teams. It fosters cultural exchange through sports and allows athletes to earn ranking points for the AJP’s annual international rankings. This opportunity is vital for local athletes aiming to enhance their global standing.
In terms of club representation, Commando Group has entered 237 athletes. MOD Academy follows with 147 participants, while Al Jazira Club and Baniyas Club have registered 85 and 53 athletes respectively. This strong turnout highlights the readiness of local clubs to compete in various categories.
The championship will feature renowned international jiu-jitsu stars like Wanderson Ferreira, Katriel Rodrigues, and Tamara Silva. Their participation elevates the competition level, providing local athletes with a chance to test their skills against top-ranked global opponents.
Yousef Al Batran, a Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted that hosting this tour aligns with a strategy to boost jiu-jitsu's presence in the UAE. He stated: "The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Tour in Dubai plays an important role in advancing the development of jiu-jitsu in the country."
