Ajman University Hosts Inaugural Family And Society Conference Focusing On Sustainability And Family Resilience

Ajman University (AU) recently hosted the second "Family and Society" conference under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. This event highlighted AU's significant role in fostering discussions on sustainability, family resilience, and societal growth.

The conference was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al-Khaimah, along with Cabinet Members, deans, academics, and distinguished guests. Organised by AU's Humanities and Social Sciences Research Centre and College of Humanities and Sciences, it collaborated with the Emirates Association for Social Development in Ras Al Khaimah, Paris Cité University, and Tarahum Charity Foundation.

The theme "Families Shaping a Sustainable Future" underscored AU's dedication to advancing knowledge that promotes societal change. The conference featured notable keynote speakers who reinforced AU’s standing as a centre for intellectual leadership and global cooperation.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Ouidad Bouchamaoui from NYU Abu Dhabi delivered an impactful speech on reimagining sustainability through families. Professor Dennis Beach from the University of Gothenburg provided insights into educational research and community empowerment.

Professor Peta White from Deakin University spoke about climate change education and intergenerational solidarity. As Editor-in-Chief of the Conference Special Issue, she emphasised the importance of fostering connections across generations.

Professor Hilary Bradbury, an authority on action research for sustainability, delivered a compelling keynote urging institutions and individuals to act as catalysts for sustainable change.

The two-day event included parallel sessions and poster presentations showcasing innovative research from AU scholars and international contributors. Topics covered digital transformation, family resilience, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and socio-economic empowerment.
