Ajman Tourism Development Department Signs MoU With Chongqing Municipality To Enhance Cultural Cooperation
The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ADTD) and Chongqing Municipality's Committee of Cultural and Tourism Development have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement was formalised during the China (Chongqing) - UAE Economic and Investment and Trade Promotion Conference, themed "Shared Visions, Share Future." The event was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.
This MoU is part of a broader strategy by Ajman's government to forge strategic partnerships with Chongqing Municipality. The focus is on enhancing cooperation in tourism and culture, aligning with Ajman Vision 2030. This vision aims to establish a diversified economy that thrives on innovation and global integration.

The memorandum seeks to open channels for tourism and cultural exchange between the two regions. It includes developing joint programmes to enhance global competitiveness, supporting initiatives in tourism promotion, and facilitating delegation exchanges. These efforts aim to create an appealing environment for investors and visitors.
Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of ADTD, highlighted the significance of this agreement. He stated it aligns with leadership’s vision for global partnerships, aiming to integrate with cities having substantial tourism influence. "Through this agreement, we aim to strengthen cooperation with Chongqing Municipality in ways that serve both parties," he said.
The collaboration reflects both parties' eagerness to deepen friendship and practical cooperation in shared interests. Given China's role as a strategic partner of the UAE across various sectors, including tourism and culture, this partnership is particularly significant.
Alhashmi emphasised that the MoU represents a qualitative addition to international cooperation efforts. He reiterated ADTD’s commitment to developing Ajman’s tourism sector according to global best practices. This aligns with the emirate’s aspirations for a prosperous future.
The agreement also aims at fostering long-term institutional relationships based on knowledge exchange. By promoting cultural understanding and building sustainable tourism ecosystems, both regions hope to benefit mutually from this partnership.
This step is one among several strategic agreements signed by Ajman with Chongqing Municipality. These agreements are designed to expand partnership opportunities across multiple sectors beyond just tourism and culture.
The collaboration underscores mutual interest in enhancing bilateral ties through shared visions for economic growth. It highlights the importance of cultural exchange as a means of strengthening international relations.
