The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) has entered into two Memoranda of Understanding with Chongqing's Municipal Economy and Information Technology Commission and the Municipal Commission of Commerce. These agreements were signed during an official visit to Chongqing, China, with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation between the regions.

Ajman DED Signs MoUs in China

The agreements are designed to facilitate knowledge exchange in trade policies and industrial planning. They also aim to support bilateral investments by simplifying company entry procedures and developing industrial zones. Additionally, they plan to organise trade missions and exhibitions to promote strategic projects jointly.

A significant initiative under these agreements is the "Chongqing Cars Go Global" project. This initiative plans to establish showrooms and industrial assembly lines in Ajman, further strengthening economic ties between the regions.

The MoUs also focus on supporting sustainable energy efficiency initiatives within technology fields. This includes launching pioneering initiatives that can elevate Ajman's standing on a global scale. The agreements highlight cooperation in smart transformation and modern industries as key areas for development.

To ensure effective implementation, joint committees will be formed. These committees will hold regular meetings to propose new initiatives and appoint official liaison points for coordination. This structured approach aims to streamline efforts across both regions.

Knowledge Exchange and Economic Data Sharing

Another important aspect of these partnerships is the exchange of economic data. This collaboration extends to supporting high-value projects and fostering partnerships between universities and research centres. Such efforts align with the UAE’s vision for a diversified economy based on knowledge and innovation.

The MoUs were signed by Saif Ahmed Al Suwaidi from Ajman DED; Tu Xingyoung from Chongqing's Municipal Economy and Information Technology Commission; and Zhang Yongwu from Chongqing's Municipal Commission of Commerce. Their collaboration signifies a commitment to mutual growth through shared expertise.

This international partnership reflects the UAE leadership’s vision for building a resilient economy driven by knowledge and innovation. By focusing on strategic collaborations, both regions aim to achieve sustainable economic growth while enhancing their global competitiveness.
