Ajman Crown Prince Oversees Signing Of 10 Strategic MoUs With Chongqing Municipality To Boost Trade
The China (Chongqing) – UAE Conference on Promotion of Trade and Investment was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman. The event featured a UAE delegation from various government and economic sectors. During the conference, 10 strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Ajman and Chongqing Municipality, including a sister-city agreement.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi highlighted the UAE's leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He noted that the country's foreign policy is based on openness and cooperation. The UAE-China partnership exemplifies mutual understanding and collaboration, he said.
The MoUs cover areas like industrial investment, free zone development, logistics connectivity, clean energy, and education. These agreements aim to expand bilateral partnerships and promote sustainable growth. They are crucial for implementing Ajman Vision 2030, which seeks a balanced development model.
Sheikh Abdulaziz emphasised that the MoUs align with H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi's vision for Ajman's prosperity. The agreements aim to make Ajman an attractive destination for living and investment globally.
The conference showcased investment opportunities across various Emirates through presentations. Sheikh Abdulaziz stressed that the Crown Prince’s leadership reflects Ajman's commitment to international cooperation with China, building on long-standing ties.
He also announced the launch of the Ajman Economic Report 2025 in collaboration with Oxford Business Group. This report outlines Ajman's economic growth drivers and its path towards a diversified economy aligned with Ajman Vision 2030.
Key Sectors and Future Prospects
The report highlights key sectors such as industry, technology, tourism, and financial services. It addresses digital transformation efforts while balancing cultural identity with economic development. It underscores Ajman's growing global investment stature.
Sheikh Abdulaziz invited Chinese companies to explore UAE’s opportunities and join its development journey embodying the UAE-China partnership spirit. He noted both countries share visions for sustainable development and innovation.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The conference provided a platform for business communities to engage directly and explore new initiatives to deepen economic ties. Sheikh Abdulaziz thanked the UAE Embassy in Beijing for fostering cooperation between the two nations.
The UAE Ambassador to China confirmed that non-oil trade exceeded US$ 90 billion in 2024, with aspirations to reach US$ 200 billion by 2030. This reflects the depth of economic relations between both countries.
Chongqing's Role in Economic Cooperation
Ding Xiangdong, Deputy Mayor of Chongqing Municipal, praised bilateral relations' level at the conference. He stressed Chongqing's strategic role in Western China's economy and its significance in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ding affirmed Chongqing's commitment to providing a welcoming environment for UAE businesses while enhancing institutional collaboration. The conference saw active participation from KEZAD Group, RAKEZ; Abu Dhabi Investment Office; Dubai Chambers; Ajman Free Zone Authority; Ajman Chamber of Commerce; CEOs; investors.
Academic Collaborations Fostered
Ajman University signed MoUs with Chongqing University and Southwest University for academic cooperation. City University Ajman also signed an MoU with Southwest University to foster academic research collaboration and student exchange programs.
The conference aligns with UAE’s efforts to enhance international cooperation while solidifying its position as a global trade hub through sustainable partnerships with friendly nations.
