AI Retreat Opens In Dubai To Discuss Acceleration Of Artificial Intelligence Adoption
Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the nation's success in transforming AI opportunities into tangible outcomes. Speaking at the AI Retreat during Dubai Artificial Intelligence Week, he emphasised how the UAE has equipped industries to swiftly adopt AI across various sectors. The event was attended by 150 government officials and experts.
The AI Retreat, part of Dubai AI Week, took place at the Museum of the Future. It featured over 150 global experts and government officials. Discussions focused on data governance, digital infrastructure, economic investment, and talent development. Participants explored policies and strategies to enhance AI's positive impact on key sectors.

Al Olama shared insights on the UAE’s approach to AI during his keynote speech titled ‘The Next 5-10 Years - A Force Multiplier of a Nation's Potential’. He addressed an audience of AI leaders about the country's ethos on accelerating technology adoption without compromising regulation. "Every single conversation about AI that takes place across the world today talks about two paradigms: innovation and regulation … There is another paradigm that most people don’t talk about, but that we in the UAE have adopted as our ethos when it comes to pushing this technology forward. And that is: acceleration," he stated.
Al Olama stressed that successful businesses in the UAE are those embracing emerging technologies. He noted that all unicorn companies from the UAE are AI-first enterprises. "Every single unicorn that has come out of the UAE is an AI-first company. And every single company that is going to be launched in this country going forward needs to be an AI-first company," he remarked.
The event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. It attracted over 10,000 participants from more than 100 countries, including decision-makers and innovators. The week featured events like the Dubai Assembly for AI and Global Prompt Engineering Championship.
Future Prospects for AI
Al Olama elaborated on how AI can improve lives by being seamlessly integrated into daily activities. "This is the AI that we want in the UAE, and that is the AI that we think is done right; It is AI that is frictionless," he explained. The focus remains on using technology effectively while maintaining regulatory standards.
The Dubai Artificial Intelligence Week also included events such as Machines Can See summit, HIMSS Executive Summit Dubai, and Hackathon: Agentic AI. These gatherings aimed to foster collaboration among global experts and explore innovative solutions for future challenges.
