AI's Role In Advancing Arabic Language Highlighted By ALC Chairman Ahead Of Major Congress
Dr Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), highlighted the evolving capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating narrative and visual content that closely resembles human output. He noted this development introduces a hybrid interaction between humans and machines. Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) before the Congress of Arabic & Creative Industries 2025, he mentioned that audiences now play a more active role in content creation due to AI advancements.
Bin Tamim pointed out that digital media is thriving, with its influence expected to grow further. He cited that over 40% of content creators in publishing and journalism currently use AI tools for generating both visual and written materials. This trend underscores the increasing integration of AI in media production.

The Congress of Arabic & Creative Industries 2025, organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre under the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, will take place from 14th to 15th September at Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The event's theme is "Arabic Creativity Reimagined: Innovation in Storytelling and Audience Engagement," aiming to showcase Arab creativity on a global platform.
The two-day congress seeks to strengthen the role of the Arabic language in fostering meaningful dialogue among civilisations. "It aims to present the Arab creative scene to the world with a contemporary vision, and to contribute to enriching the global creative industries with resources of Arab creativity, in line with the efforts of the UAE to enhance the status of the Arabic language and consolidate its presence," said Bin Tamim.
The event aspires to expand dialogue with major global companies like TikTok, Snap, Google, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). These interactions aim to elevate Arab creative industries on an international scale. Bin Tamim emphasised that strategic partnerships with global media giants can open new avenues for creativity, expedite skill transfer, and elevate production standards.
"The Congress represents a leading knowledge platform that provides insights and practical recommendations to strengthen the economic value of creative industries and reinforce the Arab cultural presence globally, while giving young talent opportunities to gain expertise and connect with leading creative minds," he added.
Panels and Discussions
The event will feature panel discussions covering diverse topics such as personal storytelling's power amid AI advancements; maintaining authenticity, diversity, and historical context during rapid technological changes; women's roles in reshaping narratives; and growth prospects for Arabic audiobooks amid a global audiobook surge. These discussions will involve experts from various sectors including technology pioneers, content creators, business leaders, and creative talents.
Additionally, new reports on Arab creative industries' economic impact through 2030 will be unveiled at the congress. These reports aim to provide decision-makers and investors with actionable insights and innovative investment opportunities within this sector.
