Agility Logistics Parks Announces 100K SQM Expansion In Riyadh To Boost Logistics Capacity

Agility, known for its leadership in supply chain services, has declared an ambitious expansion for their Agility Logistics Parks (ALP) in Riyadh. This final phase involves a significant investment of 250 million SAR. It aims to enrich the complex with an additional 100,000 SQM of Class A warehousing. This will elevate the total space to 551,368 SQM. By Q1 2025, the initial segment of this expansion is scheduled to be operational. This development is anticipated to open up 300 new employment opportunities for Saudi nationals.

The expansion is a part of Agility's broader investment strategy within Saudi Arabia, amounting to over SAR 611 million ($163 million). This includes constructing a third ALP complex near Jeddah. ALP's facilities in Riyadh and Dammam are recognized for their cutting-edge warehousing solutions. Michel Saab, the global CEO of Agility Logistics Parks, highlighted the critical role of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Ministry of Investment (MISA), and the Riyadh region municipality in the progression of the Riyadh expansion project.

Saab emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "ALP's expansion in Riyadh is not just about increasing our operational capacity. It represents a substantial contribution to the growth of the logistics market in Saudi Arabia and will allow international companies to invest in their growth in the Kingdom. By building world-class warehousing, we are able to provide critical infrastructure that is helping to make the Kingdom a global and regional logistics hub." This statement underscores the strategic significance of the project beyond its immediate operational benefits.

ALP's facilities are distinguished by their modern, sustainable design, setting a benchmark in Saudi Arabia's warehousing sector. The Riyadh Logistics Park, in particular, serves a variety of functions for leading consumer, industrial, and e-commerce brands, including storage, distribution, processing, and fulfillment. In a notable achievement in 2022, one of the warehouses in Riyadh was recognized as the first building in Saudi Arabia and the first warehouse in the GCC to achieve EDGE Advanced certification.

This certification is a testament to the park's commitment to sustainability and efficiency. EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is a prestigious global standard for energy-efficient buildings, managed by the International Finance Corp. (IFC), a division of the World Bank. Buildings with the EDGE Advanced certification are considered "zero-carbon ready," boasting energy efficiency at least 40% higher than the market average. This achievement not only highlights ALP's dedication to environmental stewardship but also sets a new standard for the logistics and warehousing industry in the region.

Agility's investment in expanding the ALP in Riyadh marks a significant step forward in enhancing Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure.
