AGDA Welcomes New Students For 2024-2025 Academic Year With Launch Of MILAD Programme
The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in the UAE has commenced its 2024-2025 academic year, welcoming a new group of students. This year is notable for the introduction of the Master in International Law, Human Rights, and Diplomacy (MILAD). This accredited one-year programme aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge in international law, human rights, and diplomacy, preparing them to tackle global challenges through a multidisciplinary approach.
AGDA's educational offerings continue to grow, featuring programmes like the Post-Graduate Diploma in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations. Other courses include the Master of Arts in Global Affairs and Diplomatic Leadership (MAGAD) and the Master of Arts in Humanitarian Action and Development (MAHAD). These programmes are crafted to develop future leaders in foreign policy, aligning with the UAE's strategic global objectives.

During a ceremony at AGDA on 23rd September, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh emphasised the importance of AGDA graduates in advancing UAE's foreign policy. As Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, he stated: "The UAE’s leadership places immense value on nurturing a new generation of diplomats who can effectively represent the country’s vision and interests."
Nusseibeh further elaborated on the significance of diplomacy: "Your enrollment at this distinguished academic institution today marks the first step in a scientific and practical journey toward a promising future in a vital field." He stressed that diplomacy is an art that shapes nations' futures by building communication bridges with other countries.
Nickolay Mladenov, Director-General of AGDA, addressed the new students with enthusiasm about their future roles. He remarked: "At AGDA, we are cultivating more than just the diplomats of tomorrow. In the complex landscape of international relations today, we require visionaries, mediators, and strategic minds capable of steering through the turbulent waters of global politics."
Mladenov expressed confidence that AGDA students will significantly contribute to shaping both UAE's future and international diplomacy. The academy aims to equip them with skills necessary for navigating global political complexities as UAE strengthens its international presence.
Innovative Learning Approaches
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General at AGDA, highlighted their unique educational methods. He noted: "At AGDA, you’ll learn the art of negotiation not just by reading about it but by actively engaging in it—right here." This approach combines practical experiences with theoretical learning to prepare students for real-world diplomatic challenges.
Students will interact with top diplomats and policymakers while developing essential qualities such as integrity and empathy. This blend ensures they are well-prepared for future opportunities and challenges as diplomats.
The launch of MILAD marks an important step for AGDA as it continues expanding its academic portfolio. By offering diverse programmes tailored to current global needs, AGDA remains committed to training competent diplomats who can effectively represent UAE's interests worldwide.
