ADX Welcomes Thndr As Its First Remote Retail Trading Member To Enhance Investment Opportunities
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has welcomed Thndr, a prominent retail investment platform in the MENA region, as its first remote retail trading member. This move positions ADX as a leader in digital innovation and cross-border collaboration within financial services. Thndr, a Hub71 start-up, is regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority and aims to expand its influence in the UAE.
Thndr's users will soon have the opportunity to invest directly in some of the UAE's most valuable listed companies and exchange-traded funds through its mobile platform. This development underscores ADX's dedication to linking Abu Dhabi with global capital markets. The announcement was made during an event at ADX’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Launched in Egypt in 2020, Thndr has revolutionised investing by using technology to offer a modern investment solution. It allows users to grow their wealth through various products. In 2024 alone, Thndr recorded over $13 billion in trading value and executed 12 million trades. With more than four million downloads, it provides access to markets in the UAE, Egypt, and the U.S., offering stocks, gold, mutual funds, and savings products.
Remote Trading Members like Thndr enable individuals, international brokers, and institutions to trade ADX-listed securities without needing a physical presence in the UAE. This approach aligns with international practices and helps diversify the investor base while attracting foreign investment.
The onboarding of Thndr supports ADX’s initiatives such as Tabadul, the first digital exchange center based on mutual market access. It complements strategic partnerships with global exchanges by fostering innovation and advancing cross-border collaboration. With a market capitalization of AED 3.1 trillion, ADX reflects Abu Dhabi’s role as a dynamic global investment hub.
Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group CEO of ADX, stated: "ADX onboarding Thndr is a transformative step in creating tangible trading bridges across the region’s capital market. As the first exchange in the GCC to welcome Thndr, we are demonstrating our commitment to financial inclusion and our leadership in unlocking new investment opportunities in Abu Dhabi’s robust capital market."
Building Bridges Between Markets
Ahmad Hammouda, Co-founder and CEO of Thndr, expressed pride in this milestone: "We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with the CEO of ADX... This partnership gives our users the chance to invest in one of the region’s strongest-performing markets over the past 5, 10, and 15 years." He highlighted how this moment builds on historic ties between Egypt and the UAE.
Seif Amr, Co-founder of Thndr, added: "This launch is a major milestone for Thndr... The entire Thndr team worked as a united front with ADX... This collaboration truly showcases why the UAE... is a beacon of progress for the region."
The ADX has been one of the best-performing markets in the GCC region over recent years. It has outperformed both MSCI Emerging Markets Index over ten years and global indices over two decades. This performance highlights Abu Dhabi's growing influence as an investment hub.
