ADX Introduces First Thematic ETF Focused On Quantum Computing Investments
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has strengthened its position as the leading marketplace for Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) in the region. This was achieved by listing the Boreas Solactive Quantum Computing UCITS ETF, marking the 17th ETF on ADX and the second one listed this year. This ETF is unique as it is the first thematic ETF in the region, tracking the Solactive Developed Quantum Computing Index.
Quantum computing represents a new era of computing, leveraging quantum mechanics to solve complex problems faster than traditional supercomputers. This technology can significantly impact various fields such as medicine, energy systems, and financial risk analysis. It offers substantial economic value to investors, businesses, and governments globally.

With this new listing, ADX continues to offer a diverse selection of ETFs, providing investors with access to both regional and global markets. The Boreas Solactive Quantum Computing UCITS ETF trades under the symbol QUANTM and enhances exposure to major companies like Alphabet, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, and Nvidia. This solidifies ADX’s role as a central hub for ETFs in the region.
Launched by Lunate, an investment management firm based in Abu Dhabi, this ETF tracks a quantum computing index that has shown a 29.4% compounded annual growth since 2017 based on back-tested data. The introduction of thematic ETFs like this one broadens ADX’s product offerings and supports Abu Dhabi’s vision of a diversified knowledge-based economy.
Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group CEO of ADX Group, stated that introducing the first thematic ETF is a significant milestone. "The listing of the first thematic ETF on the exchange marks a milestone that reaffirms our enduring commitment to expanding and diversifying the investment choices available to our investors," he said. He emphasised that quantum computing could transform multiple sectors and create new opportunities for value creation.
Sherif Salem from Lunate highlighted that this listing is pivotal for Lunate's mission to provide innovative investment solutions on ADX while enhancing Abu Dhabi's status as a global financial hub. "The listing of the region’s first thematic ETF on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange represents a landmark moment in Lunate’s efforts to deliver innovative investment solutions for investors on the ADX," he noted.
Market Growth and Future Prospects
The thematic ETF market is experiencing rapid growth worldwide. Over five years, global thematic funds have nearly doubled to US$562 billion. By offering thematic ETFs, ADX expands its range of listed ETFs across various asset classes and geographies. This includes access to global fixed-income assets.
By August 2025, ADX-listed ETFs saw their market capitalisation more than double year-on-year to AED1.7 billion from 790 million dirhams in 2024. This growth reflects increasing investor interest and confidence in ADX's offerings.
The introduction of thematic ETFs aligns with Abu Dhabi's goals for sustainable economic development through diversification and innovation in financial markets. As these products gain traction, they are expected to play a crucial role in shaping future investment landscapes within the region.
