ADNOC's SARB Offshore Field Sees 25% Production Increase With AI

ADNOC has reported a 25% boost in production capacity at its offshore Satah Al Razboot (SARB) field through the use of advanced digital technologies. The SARB field now produces 140,000 barrels per day (bpd), aligning with ADNOC's goal to reach a production capacity of 5 million barrels per day by 2027.

SARB field, situated 120 kilometres northwest of Abu Dhabi, benefits from digital solutions that allow remote operation from Zirku island, located 20km away. These solutions include remote monitoring, smart well operations, and production management technologies integrated at a remote control centre. This integration facilitates optimised real-time decision-making, leading to increased field capacity while reducing costs and emissions.

The digitalisation of the SARB field also paves the way for deploying additional AI solutions to further enhance and optimise operations. Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, ADNOC Upstream Executive Director, stated, "AI and digitalisation are at the heart of ADNOC’s smart growth strategy to help responsibly meet the world’s growing energy demand. By deploying industry-leading technologies at SARB field, we have increased production capacity while enhancing the safety, sustainability and efficiency of our operations, strengthening ADNOC’s position as one of the world’s lowest-cost and least carbon intensive energy producers."

The technologies used at SARB field include tools developed by AIQ, an Abu Dhabi-based AI leader providing transformative solutions to the energy sector. AIQ's DrillRep and OptiDrill tools process data from rigs and wells at the field to improve drilling efficiency and optimisation. These tools utilise daily drilling data reports and rig sensor data to support drilling operations with necessary insights and actions for optimising the drilling process.

This technological advancement has enabled accelerated growth in SARB field capacity while maintaining cost-effectiveness and reducing environmental impact. The integration of these advanced digital technologies underscores ADNOC's commitment to leveraging innovation for sustainable growth in energy production.

The implementation of these industry-leading technologies not only enhances operational efficiency but also strengthens ADNOC's position as a low-cost and low-carbon-intensive energy producer globally.

By adopting these cutting-edge digital solutions, ADNOC is well-positioned to meet its ambitious production targets while ensuring operational sustainability and efficiency.
