ADNOC Distribution Opens Major Superfast EV Charging Hub In UAE

ADNOC Distribution has opened what it describes as the world’s sixth largest superfast EV charging hub and set out plans to electrify the UAE’s highway network by the end of 2027. The move comes ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as policymakers and industry leaders meet in Abu Dhabi to review future energy and transport systems.

Under the new roadmap, ADNOC Distribution plans 20 dedicated EV charging hubs on UAE highways by late 2027, with 15 scheduled to be operational by the end of 2026. The company states that this network will support long-distance electric journeys and contribute to national plans for smarter and lower-emission mobility.

The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has set a 2050 objective that 50% of all vehicles on UAE roads should be battery-electric. ADNOC Distribution is supporting this policy through its E2GO network, already operating more than 400 charging points nationwide and targeting up to 750 installed units by 2028 across different locations.

Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said, "The inauguration of ADNOC Distribution’s EV Megahub is a significant step in implementing the UAE’s National Electric Vehicles Policy and advancing our vision for sustainable mobility across the nation. This hub stands out for its strategic location on the E11 highway, one of the country’s most vital corridors, providing integrated services for road users and intercity commuters."

The newly launched EV Mega hub is located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, a route that links two key economic centres. The site has 60 high-speed chargers which ADNOC Distribution says can recharge most EVs from 0 to 80% in around 20 minutes, depending on vehicle model.

ADNOC Distribution positions the Saih Shuaib EV Mega hub as the largest superfast charging location in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey and the sixth largest globally. The company presents this site as the central element of its national highway EV plan, intended to support intercity travel and ensure coverage on core corridors across the UAE.

EV charging hub strategy and The Hub by ADNOC concept

The Saih Shuaib location also marks the first The Hub by ADNOC site designed specifically for commuters travelling between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. With a footprint about three times the size of a typical service station, it combines liquid fuels, EV charging, food choices and lifestyle facilities, aiming to turn a refuelling stop into a multipurpose visit for motorists.

Building on a community-focused launch of The Hub by ADNOC concept in November, ADNOC Distribution is now aligning the model with highway use. The E11 Mega hub is the first location to include an on-site coworking space, giving customers an option to work or hold meetings while charging or refuelling during journeys between the country’s two largest cities.

EV charging hub investments and ADNOC Distribution network

Eng. Bader Saeed Al Lamki, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said, "ADNOC Distribution has powered journeys since 1973 and today, we are building the future of mobility with the UAE’s largest superfast EV charging hub. Our first EV Mega hub is strategically located along a vital highway that keeps our nation moving and is also the first The Hub by ADNOC location dedicated to the specific needs of inter-city commuters. As more consumers choose electric vehicles, we are redefining convenience to ensure they can travel confidently across the country, supported by our growing E2GO network."

ADNOC Distribution states that ongoing investment in highway hubs and wider EV charging infrastructure is aligned with expected growth in EV adoption and national electrification goals. With more than 560 service stations across the UAE, described as the country’s largest network, the company indicates it can scale its EV offer across existing sites while adding specialised hubs on major routes.

According to ADNOC Group, the wider programme supports its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and smarter infrastructure, using digital tools and new technology. The EV Mega hub and planned network aim to provide consistent long-distance charging options, while also reflecting federal transport strategies centred on lower emissions, energy efficiency and an expanded role for electric vehicles by 2050.
