ADNOC, Masdar, XRG, And Microsoft Collaborate To Advance AI Deployment In Energy Solutions

ADNOC, Masdar, XRG, and Microsoft have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within ADNOC's operations and support Microsoft's global AI and data centre expansion. This collaboration was unveiled at the ENACT Majlis in Abu Dhabi, preceding ADIPEC. The agreement aims to develop sustainable energy projects and infrastructure, integrating Masdar and XRG into the existing relationship between ADNOC and Microsoft.

ADNOC has been a pioneer in implementing generative AI across its enterprise since November 2023, using Microsoft Copilot. Over 40,000 employees have undergone AI training, achieving utilisation rates above 90% and gaining over 70,000 hours of productivity monthly. This initiative underscores ADNOC's commitment to embedding AI throughout its operations.

Collaboration to Enhance AI in Energy Sector

The partnership will see ADNOC and Microsoft jointly develop AI agents to enhance autonomous operations and efficiency within ADNOC's value chain. Microsoft will contribute advanced AI tools and upskilling programs. Both companies will explore creating an innovation ecosystem for transformative energy sector solutions.

This collaboration highlights Abu Dhabi's role as a global hub for energy innovation. It combines ADNOC's industrial leadership with Microsoft's digital expertise and Masdar and XRG's clean energy capabilities to responsibly advance the AI era. The agreement builds on insights from ADNOC and Microsoft's 2025 Powering Possible Report, which involved over 850 global experts examining AI's impact on the energy sector.

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC, Executive Chairman of XRG, and Chairman of Masdar stated: "As AI continues to reshape how value is created and enhanced across industries, ADNOC, Masdar and XRG are not only embedding AI into every layer of our operations - we are also advancing the energy systems that will power AI itself. Through our partnership with Microsoft, we are unlocking new opportunities to fuel the future of AI, drive greater performance, and future-proof our business."

The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable energy future through deep cooperation among governments, energy providers, technology firms, and innovators worldwide. Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft emphasised: "No single company or industry can meet this moment alone. Accelerating the transition to a more sustainable, secure, and inclusive energy future requires deep collaboration between governments, energy providers, technology companies, and innovators everywhere."

This strategic agreement not only strengthens existing partnerships but also positions Abu Dhabi as a leader in global energy innovation by merging industrial leadership with digital expertise.
