ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 To Welcome Over 33,000 Runners Tomorrow
The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is set to take place on 14 December, drawing over 33,000 participants. This includes elite international athletes and local community runners. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and ADNOC, this sixth edition marks the largest sports gathering on Abu Dhabi's waterfront. The event aims to enhance the UAE's global sports reputation and promote a healthy lifestyle among residents.
The marathon will start at 6:00 am from ADNOC Headquarters on Corniche Road. Participants will run past notable landmarks such as Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Al Bateen Palace. The race will conclude at the ADNOC Campus near Baynunah Public Park. A relay race for both male and female runners will also be held alongside the main marathon.

The 10 km race is scheduled to begin at 6:30 am, followed by a 2.5 km race at 8:45 am, and a 5 km race at 9:30 am. These races aim to foster a knowledgeable sports community and promote healthier living. They align with the goals of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and ADNOC to encourage positive sports practices.
Prize money for the marathon exceeds $300,000. Both male and female marathon elite winners are expected to receive $50,000 each. Additionally, top three winners in both male and female categories of the Marathon Wheelchair race will share $3,150 in prize money. Cash prizes are also awarded to top finishers in the 10KM Wheelchair races.
The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Sports Village will be open from 4:00 am to 2:00 pm behind the ADNOC Tower. It offers sponsor booths, fitness classes, yoga sessions, sports activities, children's entertainment areas, and live music performances. This village serves as a hub for community engagement during the event.
At a press conference in Marathon Village, Aref Hamad Al Awani praised the collaboration between ADSC and ADNOC. He described the marathon as a reflection of UAE values like happiness and coexistence. Al Awani welcomed elite athletes participating in this prestigious event and thanked sponsors for their support.
