ADNEC Group Partners With Terrax To Launch Sustainable Recycled Flooring For Events

In a significant move towards sustainability, ADNEC Group has announced a partnership with Terrax Environmental Limited during the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) to introduce TerraTile, an innovative modular flooring system crafted entirely from recycled materials. This collaboration marks a notable advancement in the events industry, aiming to set a new standard for environmental responsibility.

TerraTile stands out as a fully sustainable product, made from 100 percent waste and being 100 percent recyclable. Each unit of TerraTile is produced from over five kilogrammes of recycled waste, showcasing a sustainable alternative to traditional event flooring solutions. Manufactured in Abu Dhabi by Terrax, these tiles offer durability and an enhanced design that contributes significantly to environmental conservation efforts.

The introduction of TerraTiles at the ADNEC Group's stand during the WFES highlighted the potential of this product to support sustainability within the events sector. ADNEC Group plans to implement TerraTiles across all events hosted at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, Trident Trackway will provide exhibitors with the option to rent TerraTiles, aligning with ADNEC Group’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions for its events.

Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, emphasized the revolutionary nature of TerraTile and its alignment with ADNEC Group's sustainability goals. "TerraTile is a revolutionary product that underscores ADNEC Group's commitment to sustainability in the events industry," he stated. This initiative is part of a broader effort by ADNEC Group to reduce its ecological footprint and inspire industry-wide participation in environmental conservation.

Theresa Wernery, General Manager at Terrax, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the environmental benefits of TerraTile. This product not only offers an alternative to single-use exhibition carpets but also reduces the reliance on plywood, enabling more efficient and less wasteful stand construction.

The development of TerraTile is supported by an AED100 million R&D fund launched in 2022 by ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company. This fund is part of the ADQ Growth Lab initiative, aimed at fostering innovation and R&D across various sectors of the UAE’s economy. Through such initiatives, ADNEC Group is actively contributing to global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions and demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability.

ADNEC Group's initiative to make its events net-zero carbon is a testament to its proactive approach towards addressing climate change. By integrating sustainable solutions like TerraTile into its operations, ADNEC Group is taking significant steps towards reducing its carbon footprint and promoting a greener future for the events industry.
