ADIHEX Sets Guinness Record With World's Largest Falcon Hood
The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has made history by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest falcon hood ever created. Officials from Guinness World Records confirmed the hood's size at an impressive 1.95 metres. The minimum requirement to achieve this record was 1.65 metres in diameter, which the hood surpassed.
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, this remarkable feat was realised through a collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and ADNEC Group. This partnership highlights the event’s commitment to preserving and showcasing Emirati culture and heritage on an international platform.
Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, emphasised that this accomplishment is more than just a record; it represents national efforts to preserve Emirati falconry heritage. He stated, "We are proud to add another accomplishment to the list of achievements of the United Arab Emirates and highlight Abu Dhabi’s pioneering efforts in preserving Emirati heritage." This achievement ensures that falconry traditions are passed on to future generations.

Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, expressed pride in achieving this record at ADIHEX. He said, "We are honoured to have achieved this Guinness World Record at ADIHEX, a testament to our commitment to celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the UAE." This record aims to inspire future generations to value and continue the legacy of falconry.
The design of the falcon hood incorporated all technical and traditional aspects that distinguish Emirati craftsmanship. The hood is essential for training falcons for hunting as it shields their vision, keeping them calm and preventing reactions to their surroundings. The record-setting hood was crafted using traditional techniques and materials such as camel skin, made locally by Emirati artisans.
This achievement not only sets a new world record but also promotes authentic UAE heritage globally. The falcon hood's creation involved meticulous attention to detail, ensuring it met all criteria set by Guinness World Records for evaluation.
The significance of this record extends beyond its size; it underscores the dedication of Abu Dhabi’s institutions in preserving cultural practices that form an integral part of national identity. By setting this record, ADIHEX has showcased its role in maintaining and promoting Emirati traditions on a global stage.
This milestone reflects Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to celebrate its rich cultural heritage while inspiring future generations to appreciate and uphold these traditions.
