ADCMC And MBZUAI Sign MoU To Enhance Cooperation In Artificial Intelligence And Crisis Management

The Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). This agreement aims to enhance collaboration in technological innovation and artificial intelligence (AI). The MoU was signed during GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, which runs until 17th October.

Dr. Abdulla Hamarain Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Response and Recovery Sector at ADCMC, signed the MoU for ADCMC. Professor Sami Haddadin, Vice President of Research at MBZUAI, represented the university. The agreement seeks to advance AI applications, support smart transformation initiatives, and improve institutional readiness by aligning with global best practices.

The partnership focuses on strategic pillars such as providing specialised studies and research in AI to develop innovative technical solutions. It also explores projects, research ideas, and practical applications while offering specialised academic consultations to strengthen crisis management and enhance data-driven decision-making.

Dr. Abdulla Hamarain Al Dhaheri stated that this MoU aligns with Abu Dhabi's vision to foster innovation through AI advancements. He described the partnership as a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation journey. "The Memorandum of Understanding is a strategic step towards leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence to drive innovation," he said.

The agreement includes measures to boost national talent capabilities through advanced AI training programmes. It also involves cooperation in developing AI systems for monitoring and analysing cyber threats. Dr. Al Dhaheri emphasised empowering national talent by equipping them with essential technical skills through exceptional training opportunities.

Commitment to Societal Resilience

Professor Sami Haddadin remarked, "This MoU reflects our shared commitment to turning AI into a practical force for societal resilience." He highlighted nurturing national talent through advanced training programs and developing AI systems as key aspects of this collaboration.

The MoU outlines provisions for knowledge exchange and community engagement via joint events and conferences showcasing AI advancements. It also offers university students training opportunities at the Centre, preparing them for future employment.
