ADAFSA Showcases Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives At Sheikh Zayed Festival 2024
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) is set to join the 2024 Sheikh Zayed Festival. This event will take place from 1st November 2024 to 28th February 2025 in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi. ADAFSA's participation aligns with the "Year of Sustainability" and the "Plant the Emirates" initiative, focusing on promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing food security.
ADAFSA’s pavilion will spotlight the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award. This award encourages UAE farmers to embrace sustainable practices, offering AED10 million in total prizes. The festival will feature 87 competitions with a prize pool of AED4.6 million and will host five festivals: Al Wathba Agricultural, Food, Livestock, Honey, and the newly introduced Flower Festival.

The Agricultural Oasis at ADAFSA’s pavilion will introduce the "Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Data Platform." This platform aims to improve decision-making for sustainable food systems. Additionally, the Oasis will include a Majlis and an area dedicated to the "Plant the Emirates" programme.
A children's section will display ADAFSA’s educational cartoons created with SpaceToon. These cartoons cover important topics like food safety, water conservation, and reducing food waste. This initiative aims to educate young visitors about these critical issues in an engaging manner.
The Farmers' Market within the Oasis will allow local producers to sell fresh goods and honey. This market supports income growth for farmers and contributes to sector development by providing a platform for local produce sales.
Badr Hassan Al Shehhi, Director of Communication and Community Engagement at ADAFSA, stated that their pavilion embodies the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for agricultural advancement. "ADAFSA’s presence at the festival aims to raise awareness on Abu Dhabi’s agriculture, food safety, and security," he said.
Educational Initiatives
ADAFSA will also showcase its "Zadna Rating" Programme during the festival. This programme offers public food safety assessments for local establishments, aiming to promote high standards in food safety across Abu Dhabi.
The festival's diverse offerings highlight ADAFSA's commitment to sustainable development in agriculture. By participating in this event, ADAFSA seeks to enhance public understanding of its role in ensuring food safety and security while supporting local agricultural practices.
