ADAFSA Secures World’s First Global AI Certification For Agriculture And Food Safety
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the ISO 42001:2023 certification for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems. This is the first such certification in the agriculture and food security sector globally and at the government level in the UAE. This accomplishment highlights the nation's leadership in adopting international best practices and standards.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, stated that the UAE leads globally in adopting AI across various sectors. He emphasised that ADAFSA's achievement is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to excellence and innovation. "The UAE continues to lead globally in adopting AI and the latest smart technologies across various sectors, including agriculture and food security," he said.

The certification involves using advanced AI technologies like intelligent analytics and machine learning to improve agricultural operations and food safety services provided by ADAFSA. This reflects ADAFSA's dedication to responsible AI management, aligning with the UAE’s digital transformation goals. The Authority aims to enhance efficiency through these technologies while ensuring sustainability.
Dr. Tariq Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA, highlighted that this achievement aligns with Abu Dhabi's vision and the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. Since 2020, the UAE has been involved with the Emirates AI Experts Group within ISO IEC JTC SC 41/1. This group works on developing unified frameworks for AI technologies with experts from various sectors. Their efforts contribute significantly to setting global standards for artificial intelligence.
