AD Ports Group Secures Management Contract For Al Madouneh Customs Centre In Jordan
AD Ports Group has secured a significant contract to manage and operate the Al Madouneh Customs Centre in Amman, Jordan. This facility, covering 1.3 million square metres, was launched last June to boost Jordan's trade competitiveness. It employs AI-driven customs solutions, blockchain for transparency, and IoT for logistics optimisation. The centre aims to streamline cross-border trade, reduce clearance times, and enhance supply chain efficiency.
The collaboration between AD Ports Group and the Jordan Customs Department seeks to position Jordan as a leader in advanced logistics and customs operations. By integrating cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, the partnership aims to align with global standards for trade facilitation. The Al Madouneh facility features automated inspection ramps, smart warehouses, and predictive analytics.

AD Ports Group will leverage its expertise in smart logistics and trade digitalisation to maximise operational efficiency at the facility. The partnership is expected to deliver notable benefits such as a 20% reduction in clearance times and enhanced cargo security. The infrastructure can handle around 1,000 trucks in the import and transit yard, with plans for future expansion.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated: "This collaboration highlights AD Ports Group’s commitment to advancing regional trade ecosystems, in line with our wise leadership’s vision. It gives the Group the opportunity to support Jordan’s vision of becoming a regional logistics hub contributing to economic growth and jobs creation for the people of Jordan."
The contract expands AD Ports Group's presence in Jordan, where it already operates the Aqaba Cruise Terminal. Recently, it launched the first phase of the Marsa Zayed beachfront project in Aqaba with MAG Group. In January 2024, AD Ports signed an agreement between its digital arm Maqta Technologies and Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) for a Port Community System (PCS) at the Port of Aqaba.
This agreement marks AD Ports Group's first export of ports digitalisation solutions outside the UAE through its joint venture Maqta Ayla. Customs Major General Ahmed Al-Akalik emphasised that their collaboration with AD Ports is based on a government referral decision aimed at enhancing customs procedures at Al Madouneh Centre.
Enhancing Trade Relations
The UAE and Jordan maintain strong regional ties with a trade volume of AED15.4 billion in 2023 according to UAE Ministry of Economy data. Over the past decade, trade between these nations has more than doubled from AED6.91 billion in 2013.
Al-Akaleek reiterated Jordan Customs Department's dedication to working closely with AD Ports Group to serve traders and investors while improving operations at Al Madouneh Centre. This aligns with Jordan's economic modernisation vision by overcoming obstacles that may hinder development efforts.
The partnership between AD Ports Group and Jordan Customs Department is set to unlock new opportunities for businesses while reinforcing Middle East's position within global supply chains.
