ACTAD Commences Operations At New Chemical Storage Terminal In Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi

Arabian Chemical Terminals LLC of Abu Dhabi (ACTAD) has officially announced the start of operations at its newly built chemical storage terminal located at Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi. This facility marks the first commercial chemical tank farm in the Emirate, reflecting a significant milestone in the region's industrial capacity. Set in the strategically important Khalifa Port, close to the expansive Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), ACTAD is poised to play a critical role in supporting the growth of new industries within the Emirate.

The terminal, designed and constructed to meet the latest international standards, features 40 tanks of varying specifications. This includes 20 carbon steel tanks, half of which are equipped with an internal floating roof, and 20 stainless steel tanks, half of which are insulated and fitted with heating/cooling systems. The comprehensive storage capacity of the terminal stands at 100,000 m³. Each tank is connected via a dedicated pipeline to a 16-meter draft berth and has designated truck-loading areas to prevent product cross-contamination and ensure optimal operational efficiency and flexibility for ACTAD's clientele.

In addition to its tank facilities, ACTAD boasts a 500 m² warehouse designed for the storage of dangerous goods, along with provisions for drum and IBC (bulk/intermediate containers) filling. An integral component of the terminal's infrastructure is its fully equipped expert laboratory, which is operated by an independent third party for the purpose of sampling and analysis. The terminal's operations are governed by an integrated management system that aligns with international standards ISO-9000, 14000, 18000, CDI-T, and ISGOTT.

The strategic location of ACTAD's terminal within the free zone of Khalifa Port makes it a vital hub for local industries dealing in the import and export of bulk liquid chemicals. Furthermore, the facility is perfectly positioned to function as a key storage and transfer point for Breakbulk (bulk) retail goods, catering to the needs of international businesses.

ACTAD serves as an extension of Arabian Chemical Terminals Ltd in Saudi Arabia (ACT-Saudi Arabia), which has established a robust presence in the region with terminals in Yanbu and Jubail. Since its inception in 1986 in Yanbu, ACT-Saudi Arabia has grown significantly, initially featuring a storage capacity of 13,000 m³. The addition of the Jubail terminal in 2012 expanded the company's capacity by 70,000 m³, with further expansions underway to double this figure. This growth trajectory underscores ACTAD's commitment to enhancing the industrial infrastructure in the Gulf region.

The establishment of the Khalifa Port terminal by ACTAD is a testament to the company's dedication to supporting the industrial growth of the United Arab Emirates and its neighbouring countries. By providing state-of-the-art storage solutions and fostering a more efficient trade ecosystem, ACTAD is set to become a key player in the global chemical storage and logistics industry.
