Abu Dhabi's Department Of Government Enablement Collaborates With Calidus Holding Group To Enhance Emirati Skills In Defence

The Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Calidus Holding Group. This Emirati company is known for its expertise in advanced defence design and manufacturing. The collaboration aims to equip Emirati talent with essential skills for significant roles in the defence industry, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s goals for workforce localisation and economic diversification.

This agreement offers practical learning opportunities for Emiratis across various stages of the manufacturing process. It includes planning and design, where concepts for defence solutions are developed to meet market needs. During production phases, participants receive hands-on training in assembling complex defence systems. The final manufacturing processes involve completing high-quality products ready for deployment.

Collaboration to Boost Emirati Skills in Defence

Calidus Holding Group is recognised as a leader in providing advanced land and air defence systems. They manufacture military vehicles, aircraft, and cutting-edge military technologies that adhere to the highest international standards. Their products are supported by advanced technological production lines and integrated solutions tailored for their clients.

The initiative also utilises the NAFIS platform, an Emirati government programme designed to boost Emirati employment in the private sector. This provides participants with a clear path to employment in specialised manufacturing roles. Dr Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus, stated, "Calidus Holding Group is proud to support national development goals by empowering Emiratis to play key roles in the defence sector."

Dr Abdullah Al Shimmari, Acting Executive Director of the National Workforce Enablement Sector at DGE, emphasised the importance of developing Emirati talent as central to their mission. He said, "At DGE, developing Emirati talent is at the heart of our mission. By partnering with leading private sector companies like Calidus Holding Group we are creating opportunities that empower citizens with the technical, leadership, and operational skills needed to thrive."

This partnership allows Calidus to continue leveraging global expertise while localising knowledge, further strengthening the UAE’s defence industry. Dr Alblooshi added that their commitment is to provide industry-relevant preparation that enhances employment prospects and aligns with Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision for industrial growth.

The collaboration reflects a broader commitment to strengthening national industries through homegrown expertise. Through this partnership and the NAFIS programme, skilled Emiratis are expected to contribute significantly to the expansion of the sector.
