Abu Dhabi Set To Host IFATCA 2025 Conference, Uniting Global Aviation Leaders

The Integrated Transport Centre, part of Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport, has partnered with the Emirates Aviation Association to host the 64th Annual Conference of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA) in 2025. Scheduled from 28th April to 2nd May in Abu Dhabi, this event will gather international organisations, government bodies, and top civil aviation firms. It is organised alongside the General Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the involved parties within a structured framework that aligns with their strategic objectives while respecting each entity’s roles and duties. The annual IFATCA conference is a prominent event in aviation and air traffic management. It brings together global experts to discuss advancements in air traffic control (ATC), strategies for improving safety, efficiency, and regularity in global air navigation, and developing ATC systems, procedures, and infrastructure.

The conference also promotes knowledge sharing and professional competence among air traffic controllers. Dr. Saif Sultan Al Nasri, Acting Undersecretary of the DMT, commented on this collaboration: "This collaboration is a key milestone in our efforts to enhance the UAE’s position as a global leader in civil aviation. By hosting the IFATCA 2025 conference, we are not only advancing air traffic management but also fostering stronger relationships among international aviation experts, ensuring the continued development and safety of global air navigation systems."

The agreement includes joint efforts to strengthen IFATCA’s ties with relevant UAE civil aviation entities and advance the profession of air traffic controllers. It also seeks to foster communication between UAE-based controllers and their counterparts worldwide. Additionally, it provides opportunities for Emirati controllers to actively participate in discussions on regional and international air traffic management while exchanging knowledge and best practices in ATC operations.

This significant event occurs amid the UAE's remarkable progress in aviation and transport infrastructure. The country boasts one of the busiest and most lucrative airspaces globally. The aviation sector alone has experienced a 10% growth over the past two years, highlighting its efforts to maintain leadership in global civil aviation.

Global Representation at IFATCA

IFATCA represents over 130 professional air traffic controller associations worldwide, with more than 50,000 members. The organisation aims to unify these associations while working closely with national and international aviation authorities. The conference will feature specialised panel discussions, workshops, and presentations by leading international aviation experts.

This event underscores the UAE's commitment to maintaining its leadership role in global civil aviation by fostering collaboration among international experts. Such initiatives ensure ongoing development and safety improvements within global air navigation systems.
