Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum Strengthens Strategic Collaboration In Key Sectors

The 15th Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum (ADSJF) took place in Singapore, co-chaired by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak and Dr. Tan See Leng. This event coincided with H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's official visit to Singapore. Ambassadors and officials from both nations attended, alongside representatives from key government and private sectors.

The forum focused on strengthening existing collaborations and exploring new areas of mutual interest. The UAE remains Singapore's largest trading partner in the Middle East, with non-oil trade reaching $5.8 billion in 2023. Discussions included enhancing cooperation in financial services, fintech, green economy, food security, water scarcity, government services, space technology, and peaceful nuclear energy.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak highlighted the forum's role in deepening ties between the UAE and Singapore. He stated, "The Abu Dhabi Singapore Joint Forum provides an invaluable platform for deepening ties and forging mutual beneficial partnerships in various sectors of shared interest between the UAE and Singapore." This framework supports growing bilateral relations under leadership guidance.

Dr. Tan See Leng acknowledged the ADSJF as a crucial platform for economic engagement since its inception in 2008. He remarked, "The relationship between our countries is broad and deep, with the UAE being Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East." Initiatives discussed at the forum aim to create growth opportunities for business communities.

A session at the ADSJF addressed global water scarcity challenges. It introduced the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative (MBZWI), launched earlier this year in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to tackle water scarcity by supporting innovative technologies and raising awareness on this critical issue globally.

For over 39 years, the UAE and Singapore have maintained a productive bilateral relationship through active trade links and strategic cooperation across various fields. The Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum was established in 2007 to deepen cooperation and explore new collaboration opportunities.

The commitment to building strong bilateral relations was reaffirmed during the session. Both parties expressed their dedication to enhancing strategic partnerships that benefit their economies and societies while addressing shared challenges like water scarcity.
