Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation And Sultan Al Owais Cultural Foundation Sign MoU To Support Arabic Language Development

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) and the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Arab cultural and intellectual exchange. This agreement was formalised on 2 May at the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, marking a significant collaboration between the two institutions. The signing took place at ADMAF's booth, which this year celebrated the late poet Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais under the theme ‘Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais: The Unforgettable’.

Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of ADMAF, expressed that this MoU builds on an existing partnership with shared goals. She highlighted the commitment of both organisations to enrich Arab culture and advance intellectual thought. "This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) does not mark the beginning of new cooperation, but rather complements an existing partnership, rooted in a shared vision and purpose," she said. The collaboration aims to empower knowledge and celebrate their joint achievements in cultural development.

MoU Signed to Promote Arabic Language

Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Executive Director of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, emphasised the importance of this agreement in fostering cooperation between cultural institutions. He stated that it would strengthen bonds that serve Arab culture and thought. "Through signing this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), we aim to emphasise the complementary roles played by cultural institutions," he noted.

The event also honoured other literary figures such as Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen. A tribute titled "Badr of Poetry" was launched at ADMAF's booth. This initiative is part of ADMAF's ongoing efforts to support local and regional literary voices by providing platforms for their work.

The MoU aligns with ADMAF’s Riwaq Al Adab Wal Kitab initiative, reflecting a commitment to supporting Emirati and regional literary talent through various programmes. These include research publications, seminars, training workshops, cultural forums, and resource sharing. The partnership honours Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais’s legacy while promoting Arab language preservation and cultural heritage.

Expanding Collaborative Efforts

Al Hashimi further explained that the foundation seeks to expand partnerships that reflect its identity and enhance its presence in local and Arab communities. "At the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, we are always striving to expand partnerships that reflect the identity of our institution and enhance its presence in both local and Arab communities," he said. The foundation has previously signed numerous MoUs leading to joint events across Egypt, Jordan, and other regions.

This agreement with ADMAF is expected to open new avenues for cooperation through information exchange, joint events, activities, and projects aimed at promoting cultural engagement. "We hope that this agreement with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) will open new horizons for cooperation through the exchange of information and expertise," Al Hashimi concluded.

This collaboration underscores both foundations' dedication to preserving Arab culture while fostering intellectual growth within their communities.
