Abu Dhabi Mobility And Maritime Introduce MARSDNA Tool To Enhance ESG Tracking In The Maritime Sector

The Integrated Transport Centre, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, along with Abu Dhabi Maritime from AD Ports Group, has introduced MARSDNA. This tool, crafted by Maqta Technologies Group, aids maritime stakeholders in meeting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives. It offers a user-friendly experience for businesses to assess their ESG status and receive tailored recommendations.

MARSDNA provides a free questionnaire on the Abu Dhabi Maritime website. Users can evaluate their ESG progress through this survey. The tool then generates a detailed report that users can download. This report connects them to further resources and outlines steps for improvement.

The launch of MARSDNA by Abu Dhabi Mobility and Abu Dhabi Maritime signifies their dedication to sustainability within the maritime industry. This initiative supports environmental, social, and governance efforts. The tool is designed to simplify ESG tracking by integrating various standards like those from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the International Maritime Organisation.

Initially, MARSDNA targets five key areas in the maritime sector: shipping companies, port operators, freight forwarders, marine services, and marina operators. Future phases will broaden its reach to cover the entire maritime industry.

This innovative tool consolidates information from multiple ESG standards into an engaging format accessible to all organisations. It aims to make ESG tracking straightforward for businesses of any size, including small and medium enterprises.

MARSDNA stands for ‘Maritime Sustainability DNA’ and echoes the Arabic term for observatory. It marks a significant advancement in promoting sustainable practices within the maritime sector.

This initiative reflects Abu Dhabi's ambition to become a global leader in maritime sustainability through innovative digital solutions like MARSDNA.
