Abu Dhabi Sets Up Reporting Channels For Child Protection Among People Of Determination

On the occasion of Emirati Children's Day, the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has unveiled a significant community initiative aimed at bolstering child protection efforts within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This initiative introduces official channels designed for the reporting of suspected abuse cases involving children of determination, marking a pivotal step in safeguarding their rights and well-being.

The newly launched reporting mechanisms include an email address ([email protected]), a hotline, and a WhatsApp service (0542003366), facilitating easy and accessible reporting. Additionally, ZHO has established a dedicated portal for its employees on the internal website to report concerns regarding individuals of determination associated with the organisation. This comprehensive approach underscores ZHO's commitment to creating a nurturing environment conducive to the healthy and sustainable development of children.

Child Protection Channels Launched

Abdullah Abdul Aali Al Hameedan, Secretary-General of ZHO, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the UAE's longstanding commitment to child welfare. "The UAE has prioritised childhood care and attention since the establishment of the Union," he stated, underscoring the constitutional provisions that affirm society's role in nurturing motherhood and childhood.

Fatima Al Hashemi, a Child Protection Specialist at ZHO, elaborated on the initiative's objectives. She emphasised the focus on children with determination, aiming to implement robust mechanisms and measures to ensure their safety within the institution. The initiative seeks to protect children from physical or psychological harm and empower them with their rights, notably the right to protection. This encompasses a reporting system for suspected abuse or rights violations within ZHO's facilities, during transportation on buses, and at external activities organised by the institution.

To further bolster this initiative, ZHO has trained 23 of its specialised staff members to become judicial officers specialising in child protection. This training is part of ZHO's strategic efforts to enhance its capacity to address cases of child abuse effectively. Moreover, the introduction of a new job title, Child Protection Specialist, signifies the organisation's dedication to this cause.

This initiative not only reinforces ZHO's role in protecting children with determination but also reflects the wise leadership's approach and diligent efforts to prioritise children's best interests. By activating channels for reporting suspected abuse cases and coordinating with relevant entities, ZHO aims to provide a safe environment free from all forms of abuse, exploitation, and discrimination. This collaborative effort underscores shared social responsibility towards ensuring the well-being of children with determination.
