Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Enhances Legal Awareness Initiatives For Non-Arabic Speaking Communities

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) is enhancing legal awareness among non-Arabic speaking foreign communities. This initiative aims to promote justice and uphold the rule of law. In the first half of 2024, the Legal Awareness Committee focused on healthcare workers in Abu Dhabi, benefiting around 60,000 foreign healthcare employees.

Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of ADJD, stated that expanding awareness aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The goal is to enhance legal knowledge and familiarise a broad segment of society with current laws and legislation.

Legal Awareness Initiatives in Abu Dhabi Expanded

The Foreign Communities' Legal Awareness Committee is committed to reaching all sectors. They are using modern electronic tools to deliver targeted messages. This includes publishing materials on internal websites for employees, hosting remote lectures in various languages, and displaying bulletins on smart screens and signboards.

Topics are chosen based on each sector's needs to ensure maximum benefit from the programme. Al Abri emphasised the committee's dedication to informing foreign nationals about judicial and legal services offered by ADJD.

The English Notary Services Bureau supports the business sector across the Middle East. It provides legal assistance for notarial transactions involving foreign individuals and companies. Additionally, the Civil Family Court handles family matters for non-nationals, offering services like civil marriage, civil wills, and inheritance matters.

Al Abri praised strategic partners in Abu Dhabi for their cooperation. Their support was crucial to the success of this initiative. The collaboration helped in effectively reaching out to a wider audience with essential legal information.

This comprehensive approach ensures that foreign communities are well-informed about their rights and obligations under local laws. By doing so, ADJD aims to foster a legally aware society that respects and adheres to the rule of law within the Emirate.
