Abu Dhabi To Host The 25th IUHPE World Conference On Health Promotion In May 2025

Abu Dhabi will host the 25th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion from May 13-16, 2025. This marks the first time the event will be held in the Middle East. The conference is co-hosted by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The conference is expected to attract over 2,000 global leaders, including health professionals, researchers, educators, policymakers, and community advocates from around the world. The theme for this four-day event is ‘Settings for Planetary Health and Wellbeing’. It aims to address global health threats such as non-communicable diseases, mental health issues, climate change, and emergency preparedness.

IUHPE World Conference Set for Abu Dhabi

The event will feature keynote speeches, high-level panels, workshops, and networking forums. These activities aim to bridge research and practice by offering new solutions to complex challenges faced by communities worldwide. The conference will cover a wide range of topics including health literate settings like schools and workplaces, digital health transformation, global diplomacy, emergency preparedness, and policies promoting health equity.

Dr Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADPHC, stated that this significant event demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s dedication to advancing global health and sustainability. He emphasised that it highlights their shift from healthcare to health by prioritising prevention, innovation, and planetary well-being.

Sione Tu’itahi, IUHPE President, remarked on the importance of gathering in the MENA region for the first time. He noted that as humanity faces converging global health challenges, it is symbolic and necessary to come together in this cradle of civilisation to develop collective solutions.

The IUHPE World Conference has been a leading platform for advancing health promotion and education for 74 years. Bringing this event to Abu Dhabi underscores the emirate’s growing leadership in public health research and policy innovation.

Global Participation and Cultural Experience

The call for abstracts received submissions from countries such as the UAE, India, Australia, Ghana, Canada, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Uganda, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, France, the United States, Zambia, Brazil, and Switzerland. This diverse participation highlights Abu Dhabi's role as a global centre for health policy knowledge exchange.

Attendees will not only engage in advanced discussions but also experience Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage. The emirate's commitment to public health and sustainability will be evident throughout the conference.
