Abu Dhabi Global Market Reigns As Fastest-Growing Financial Hub Once Again

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial center of Abu Dhabi, has marked 2023 as a year of unparalleled success, maintaining its position as the fastest-growing financial center in the region for the second consecutive year. This year, the ADGM has seen a remarkable 35% increase in Assets Under Management (AUM) within its asset management sector, alongside a significant 32% growth in operational entities compared to 2022. This surge underscores the center's appeal to global asset managers, including industry giants such as Brevan Howard, Ardian, Goldman Sachs, and Blackstone.

The ADGM's regulatory framework has been pivotal in this growth, particularly with enhancements like the Private Credit Fund framework allowing collective investment funds to invest in credit. These regulatory advancements have made the ADGM an attractive destination for over 125 firms waiting to be registered. Furthermore, financial institutions and investment banks based in the ADGM, such as JP Morgan and BNP Paribas, are expanding their services and teams, contributing significantly to talent development within the center.

ADGM Tops as Fastest-Growing Financial Hub

The success of Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW) 2023, which attracted over 18,000 attendees and featured speakers like Jamie Dimon and Ray Dalio, further cements ADGM's reputation. During this event, 14 major financial institutions pledged to establish new operations in the ADGM, representing a combined AUM of US$452 billion.

In alignment with Abu Dhabi and the UAE's sustainability goals, the ADGM has taken significant steps towards promoting sustainability. It introduced the region's first comprehensive regulatory framework for Sustainable Finance and was named the "Principal Climate Finance Partner" of COP28. The establishment of the Global Climate Finance Centre (GCFC) within ADGM aims to accelerate climate finance frameworks development and champion global best practices. Additionally, ALTÉRRA, a $30 billion catalytic climate vehicle launched in the ADGM, seeks to enhance global access to climate finance.

The ADGM's achievements in 2023 highlight its role as a globally recognized financial hub and a key player in sustainable finance. Its continued growth in asset management, operational entities expansion, and fostering of global partnerships underscore its significant contribution to Abu Dhabi's economic diversification goals.
